FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES ELECTROLYSIS WORK?

During treatment, the electrologist carefully inserts a very fine probe alongside the hair shaft and into the hair follicle. A gentle electric current is then applied to the target and destroys the follicle's ability to produce new hair growth. Once successfully treated, the follicle can no longer produce new hair growth.

DOES ELECTROLYSIS HURT?

During treatment, you may feel a momentary heat sensation or pinch but you should not feel the insertion of the probe into the hair follicle nor should you feel like the hair is being pulled out when removed. Most clients find treatments very manageable. Sensitivity varies from person to person, but we work carefully to ensure your comfort throughout the process. Topical anesthetic options are available.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

All new clients begin with a 30-minute consultation before treatment. During this visit, we'll discuss your goals and create a personalized treatment plan. The $20 consultation fee is applied toward your first treatment session. Treatment appointments are booked by treatment time, but please allow extra time for check-in, consultation, and aftercare. For example, a 15-minute treatment will take approximately 30 minutes from arrival to departure. If you're new to electrolysis, you may elect to receive a sample service during the consultation, which includes a brief 5-minute treatment so you can experience the process before scheduling future appointments.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Electrolysis is a gradual process because hair grows in cycles. Consistent treatments deliver the best long-term results, and appointments typically become less frequent as progress is made. The number of treatments will also depend on body area being treated.

IS ELECTROLYSIS BETTER THAN LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Both treatments have benefits, but electrolysis remains the only FDA recognized permanent hair removal method. It is effective on all hair colors and skin types and can successfully treat hair that may not respond well to laser treatments.
